We’re thrilled to launch our new peri- and post-menopause physiotherapist led classes at our Albyn Terrace Physiotherapy clinic — designed to support women through one of the most significant transitions in life. Whether you're starting to notice changes or are well into this phase, these sessions are here to help you move, feel, and live better.
Who are these classes for?
Did you know the average age of menopause in the UK is 51? Menopause is officially defined as 12 consecutive months without a period — but perimenopause, the lead-up, can start 10 years prior to this.
So while there’s no age limit, these classes are likely best suited for women aged 40–60 — or anyone who feels they might be in the midst of hormonal shifts.
Could I be in this phase?
Every woman’s experience is unique — but here are a few common signs that you might be navigating perimenopause or post-menopause:
Your periods changed (heavier, lighter, more irregular)
You experiencing new aches and pains, or unexpected weight changes
Your mood, sleep, or focus has shifted
Your usual exercise routine no longer working like it used to
If any of this sounds familiar, this may be indicative of peri-menopause.
What to expect in class
These Physiotherapist led classes are grounded in the latest evidence about what really works for women in this life stage. Our sessions include:
Heavy strength training
Plyometric exercises
Sprint intervals
These types of movement are key for supporting bone density, muscle mass, metabolism, and overall wellbeing physical and emotional.
These classes aren’t just about getting stronger — they’re about building confidence, gaining knowledge, and feeling empowered to apply what you learn well beyond the class
Do I need to be super fit?
Not at all.
You’ll need to be generally well enough for aerobic, plyometric, and strength exercises — but we meet you where you are. Whether you’re:
Just getting started with exercise
Looking to dial in your training
Needing time to focus on you
Curious about your body’s changes
…this class is for you.
Our Physiotherapist will provide modifications and progressions so you can move at your pace while building strength and resilience over time.
If you have pre-existing health conditions or concerns that you wouldn't manage in this setting, please get in touch. We'd love to tell you about how our Physiotherapists can offer similar support in a 1:1 setting.
